Mrs. Susan E. Marshall died on Thursday afternoon last. Funeral services at the Methodist Church on Sunday afternoon were in charge of Rev. NT Gottschall. The casket was borne by Robert Marshall, Sherman Boggess, Wilfred Boggess, Joe Parks, Arnold Peacock and Delbert Pollitt. The flowers were carried by Mrs. Virginia Peacock; Mrs. Helen Parks, Mrs. Delbert Pollitt, Mrs. Lillian Boggess, Msr. Kathryn Marshall and Misses Betty Hill, Rose young and Aline Simms. With Mrs. Lowell Spencer at piano, Mrs. TS Banta and Miss Virginia sang At the Dawn of Eternal Day and One Sweetly Solemn Thought. Mrs. Susie E. Marshall, a life long resident of this community passed away at her home here, Thursday afternoon at 1:20 o'clock. Death was caused by a complication of diseases. She had been in failing health for quite a while but was serious only since last Friday. She was the daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth MILES and was born Oct 10, 1861, near Waveland departed life March 31, 1938. Age 76 years 5 months 21 days. She was married to Cyrus Marhsall Jan 10, 1881. To them were born 10 children, six sons and four daughters. The husband, one daughter and four sons have passed on. Mrs. Marshall united with the Waveland Methodist Church several years ago. She was a kind and loving mother though frail in body. Always forgetting self, unmindful of her health striving diligently to rear the family and keep the little home together. So after life's fitful season filled with hardships and disappointments she rests from her labors. She is at home with the Father. To loved ones there is grief for there is separateion but the pain of sorrow is taken away. For the sting of death is destroyed. Sorrow not as those having no hope. Left to mourn her loss are 2 sons, Guy of Marshall and Clyde of Waveland. Three daughters, Mrs. Fred Hill of Thorntown, Mrs. Maud Fuller and Mrs. Lavern Grandstaff of Waveland. 12 grandchildren, six greats and one sister, Mrs. Ida Lawson of Mecca, several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Among those present from a distance were: Mr. & Mrs. Fred English of Frankfort; Mr. & Mrs. Charles English; Charles Dale, Jr. and Will Boggess of Lebanon; Mr. and Mrs. Claude Steffy of Clinton; Mrs. Henry Gradstaff and Mr. and Mrs. E Bently of Veedersburg; Albert Miles of Montezuma; John Birth and Mr. and Mrs. HJ Atkinson; Mrs. Nettie Andrews and Miss Rose Yount of Crawfordsville; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Peacock; Sherman and Will Boggess of Hammond; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Parks of Darlington; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Marshall of New Ross and Mr. and Mrs. Bert Fuller of Elmdale. - typed by kbz
